Simon Phin

Simon is a surf life saver, keen surfer, and early morning swimmer at Manly with the Drinks Express which is how most people know him. He inhales coffee more, and much earlier, than he should and loves a chat and a nickname. However, his professional life has been kept somewhat under wraps. You see, Simon works on the rigs. Simon stepped onto his first offshore Deepwater drilling rig knowing nothing other than no-one could be more nervous than him. Some 20 years ago and 50 rigs later covering some 25+ countries, he’s experienced more than most and has found himself in situations he’d rather not be in.

Simon’s company works globally with an intent on making workplaces safer and holding those accountable who choose to cut corners . He is the holder of an Innovation Patent for the methodology and measurement of risk appetite (HARTS®) that is used globally in high-risk environments. Simon was a Torchbearer for the Sydney 2000 Olympics in recognition of services to the community.
