Steven Jeffreys

Steven Jefferys is a professional horse trainer, instructor, entertainer, and public speaker. He has achieved success in numerous equestrian disciplines and is regarded as one of Australia’s most versatile horsemen. However, he is most renowned for his iconic role as the man who inaugurated the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games “The Man From Snowy River” as he is fondly known, made an unforgettable entrance onto the centre stage, galloping with his trusted steed Ammo. The resounding crack of his whip and a spectacular rear marked the commencement of the Games.

Since his momentous performance at the Sydney Olympics, Steven has been in high demand for orchestrating similar roles, overseeing the preparation of animals and their handlers for significant ceremonies worldwide, particularly those involving livestock. His involvement in the Man from Snowy River Arena Spectacular” even led to a national tour across Australia in the wake of the Olympic Games

Steven’s expertise extends to his consultancy, instruction, and training for the NSW mounted Police. He has also made notable appearances in film, television, photography, and as a compelling speaker, often featuring his intelligent and skilled animals.

Notably, Steven and his horses graces the stage in three separate seasons alongside The Australian Opera Company’s production of Carmen, performing at the iconic Sydney Opera House
