KATHERINE CASTILLO ALFEREZ
Katherine Castillo Alferez, a Colombian-born artist residing in Sydney for the past 14 years, embarked on her artistic journey in 2016, primarily specializing in clay and metal creations. Her passion lies in the exploration of abstract forms, a distinctive hallmark of her surrealist sculptures. the sensuous contours found in figurative art.
Her impressive portfolio includes contributing to notable monuments across NSW, such as "REMEMBRANCE" at the Bear Cottage Children's Hospice in Manly, "OCEANIDS II" at Fairy Bower Rockpool in Manly, and the "WIX MONUMENT" honoring the worldwide racehorse champion at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, where she made her mark as the sole female in Sydney's foundry industry.
In February 2020, Katherine established Artistkca & Manly Sculpture School, a platform for sculpture masterclasses and the introduction of international artists to Sydney. Despite her relatively short career, Katherine has garnered several accolades, including winning first prize at the Harbour Exhibition Balmain in 2020 and receiving the People's Choice Award at Sculptures in the Garden in Mudgee and Sculptures in the Farm in Dungog NSW in 2021, among others. Her exceptional creations have found homes among private collectors across Australia.
