GRAHAM BUZZ BIDRUPP
Graham "Buzz" Bidstrup is a prominent figure in the Australian music industry, boasting a 50-year career that has earned him a place in the ARIA Hall of Fame. His multifaceted roles as a writer, performer, manager, and record producer have left an indelible mark on the industry. As a member of The Angels from 1976 to 1981, he co-wrote and co-produced the chart-topping hit "No Secrets," a testament to his songwriting and production prowess.
Bidstrup's extensive musical contributions include producing hundreds of recordings, writing songs, and performing as a musician. He also ventured into film, composing and producing music for movies like "Starstruck" and "Heatwave" and serving as co-music director for the ABC TV series "Sweet and Sour" in 1983.
A founding member of several Australian bands, including The Party Boys, GANGgajang, The Stetsons, and The Dynosaurs, Buzz's talent transcends performing; he has also managed various artists such as GANGgajang, Diana Anaid, and Nathan Cavaleri. He played a pivotal role in managing and directing the career of entertainer, Dr. Jimmy Little AO, from 1999 to 2012, even organizing charity events like the Bon Scott Statue concert and "Rock for Doc."
In 2005, Buzz became the founding CEO of The Jimmy Little Foundation, a position he held for a decade, establishing Uncle Jimmy Thumbs Up! Ltd, a not-for-profit company in 2007. He continues to serve as the CEO of Thumbs Up!, which utilizes music and new media to provide nutrition and healthy lifestyle education to Indigenous children and families in remote areas. Buzz also co-created the Good Tucker app, aiding residents in choosing healthier food and drink options at local stores.
His commitment to the industry extends to his role as a patron of the Association of Australian Artist Managers and an Ambassador for the Australian Performing Rights Association, where he mentors emerging writers, producers, and artist managers. Music remains a passion for Buzz, who continues to create and release music through his SBD music label from his home studio.
